What is a FLOATING Licence?

Our new FLOATING Licence is a cloud-based software licence that allows a set number of seats to be shared by a number of simultaneous End Users within an organisation to access the software on a first come, first served basis.

The FLOATING Licence can be used at any of your offices, anywhere in the world, without the need to manage licence keys, licence files or licence servers.

Various pack sizes are available to suit user requirements.

  • Utilises the SIDRA Network Model
  • Able to model up to 50 Sites
  • Cloud-based
  • Global-use Licence

What are the benefits of a FLOATING Licence?

Quick roll-out across several locations

Company-wide roll-out to End Users across one office or across ten offices takes the same amount of time as all configuration and set up is done in the cloud. There are no physical licence keys to use, maintain or return.

On-premises licence servers are not needed

Maintenance of an on-premises licence server is not required as this is a cloud-based system.

Pools of authorised users can be created across offices regardless of their physical location. The size of both the authorised user pool and the floating licence pool can be easily configured from a simple web portal. There are no licence keys, no licence files and no licence servers for you to install.

The FLOATING Licence system allows Organisation Administrators to see in real time what licences they have access to and what licences have been consumed. This increases awareness of software usage.

Easily download an Offline Licence

An Offline Licence Seat can be downloaded which is useful if you are working off site with no internet access. This will work for one day only.

Benefits of the NETWORK model

Both 1PC and FLOATING Licence Types allow modelling of Networks.

SIDRA INTERSECTION offers a powerful NETWORK Model:

  • This allows users to model a Network with up to 50 Sites and no limit on the number of Networks modelled.
  • It is recommended for detailed modelling of paired intersections as well as alternative intersections and interchanges.
  • Network Templates make setting up complex intersection and interchange designs easier and less time consuming.

In SIDRA INTERSECTION, modelling of more than two connected Sites is very common, for example, for modelling a road corridor, an interchange with a nearby intersection, a pair of wide-median intersections, and so on.

Network Templates of paired intersections, interchanges and various alternative intersections and interchanges are available in SIDRA INTERSECTION and many of them require a combination of more than two Sites in a Network, e.g. the Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) Intersection.

FAQs

Here are some commonly asked questions regarding the new FLOATING Licence.

An organisation’s End User runs the SIDRA Software and simply logs into the cloud-based Floating Licensing System by using their SIDRA User Profile username and password through the web browser embedded in the SIDRA Software or the user’s default web browser.

After the user logs in successfully, the SIDRA Software will get a digital Access Token. The SIDRA Software uses the Access Token on behalf of the user to request a Licence Seat from the cloud-based licence system. If a Licence Seat is available, the SIDRA Software checks out the Licence Seat successfully on behalf of the user.

FLOATING Licences are available for professional use only. Please refer to this page for more information about our EDUCATIONAL Licences.

The Old Version FLOATING Licence (SIDRA INTERSECTION 8) was a server-based licence. It required a licence manager to be installed on your network and for the users to be able to have access to that network, as well as having the software installed on their computers.

The new FLOATING Licence is a cloud-based licence which can be accessed from anywhere that has internet access.

There are many benefits of this new system including:

  • it allows a set number of seats to be shared by a larger number of users within an organisation on a first come, first served basis;
  • it can be used at any of your offices, anywhere in the world, without the need to manage licence keys, licence files or licence servers;
  • there are no physical licence keys to use, maintain or return; and
  • no on-premises licence server is required.

If you do not renew your COVER, you will lose your free priority technical support. You will also be charged a higher COVER After Expiry price for renewal.

Learn about COVER Subscription

If you do not maintain your COVER before a new major version release, you will not receive a free upgrade to the major new version release and your COVER for that licence will be considered lapsed. If your FLOATING Licence is lapsed, it cannot be reinstated, and a new FLOATING Licence will need to be purchased.

Can I still use the software?

You will be able to continue using a lapsed FLOATING Licence for a limited time only (Read: Lifespan of a FLOATING licence).

We strongly recommend you maintain your COVER from one year to the next. You will have access to the latest version of SIDRA INTERSECTION, which we improve significantly with each release.

Maintaining your COVER will also give you priority technical support from the developers and administrative staff at SIDRA SOLUTIONS.
